Newcastle Families Invited to Fenham Garden Party
Residents across Fenham and the wider Newcastle area are being invited to come together for an afternoon of food, entertainment and family fun when the Fenham Garden Party takes place at West End United Reformed Church on Lanercost Drive on Saturday, June 27.

The community event, which begins at 1pm, aims to bring local families, neighbours and visitors together in a welcoming environment packed with activities suitable for all ages. Organisers hope the event will strengthen community connections while providing an affordable day out during the summer.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of refreshments throughout the afternoon, including teas, pizzas, hot dogs and a selection of international dishes reflecting the diverse communities that call Newcastle home. There will also be games, stalls and competitions designed to keep families entertained.

Live Music and Family Activities.

One of the highlights of the day will be a performance by the Meze Mundo Band, bringing live music to the celebrations and helping create a lively festival atmosphere in the heart of Fenham.

Young children have not been forgotten. A special teddy bear picnic and games session will be held for pre-school children, while a separate picnic and activity area will cater for youngsters under the age of seven. Advance tickets for the teddy bear picnic are available for £3 through Fenham Playgroup.

Organisers say the event is designed to encourage families to spend quality time together while meeting other local residents and community groups.

Why Community Events Matter.

Community gatherings continue to play an important role in bringing neighbourhoods together across Newcastle. According to the latest Community Life Survey, around 28% of adults in England took part in formal volunteering during the past year, highlighting the ongoing importance of local organisations and community-led events. Meanwhile, 17% of adults volunteer at least once a month, demonstrating the value many people place on supporting their local areas.

Events such as the Fenham Garden Party help create opportunities for residents to connect, support local initiatives and celebrate the diversity that makes Newcastle's communities unique.
